A second Las Vegas area school has canceled classes due to a possible norovirus outbreak.
Imagine Schools at Mountain View announced the school will be closed today and tomorrow as a precautionary measure due to illnesses amongst the students.
It comes just days after Somerset Academy canceled classes on Thursday and Friday to have the school disinfected and cleaned.
According to a release Somerset Academy sent to parents, “The Southern Nevada Health District is investigating a cluster of gastrointestinal illnesses reported by Somerset Academy in North Las Vegas on April 23, 2017. Students and staff may have been exposed between April 21st - April 25th. The cases are not limited to one particular grade, but have been reported in grades 1-7.
“Norovirus infection can cause vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and/or nausea approximately 24-48 hours after exposure to the agent. The illness often begins suddenly, and the infected person may feel very sick. Usually, over 40 percent of ill persons in a Norovirus outbreak will experience vomiting.”
Somerset Academy resumed classes today, and Imagine Schools at Mountain View are scheduled to resume on Wednesday.
