The Vegas Golden Knights continue to struggle on the road, falling 2-1 tonight at host Boston for their third straight defeat away from T-Mobile Arena.

Boston’s Sean Kuraly scored the game-winner midway through the third period to send the Golden Knights to an 8-4 overall record. It’s their third loss in four days on the east coast.

Cody Eakin scored the lone Vegas goal in the second period. It came on an assist from Nate Schmidt, his sixth of the season.

Vegas received solid play in goal from Maxime Lagace, who stopped 25 of 27 shots — not bad for the franchise fourth option in goal.

This is a developing story. Check back later for more.

Vegas pulls even at Boston thanks to strong play from Nate Schmidt

A strong play by Vegas defender Nate Schmidt, who stole the puck in the Golden Knights’ offensive zone from a Boston player and delivered a pass to Cody Eakin for his second goal of the season, helped Vegas even the score at Boston.

Schmidt lifted DeBrusk’s stick to steal the puck and setup Eakin for the equalizer midway through the period. Vegas and Boston are tied 1-1 heading into the final period.

Boston’s goal came at the 3:24 mark of the second from Riley Nash. The Bruins nearly scored another goal, but Vegas goalie Maxime Lagace made a brilliant kick save. Legace, the fourth Golden Knights goalie to start a game this season, has 19 saves. The assist from Schmidt was his sixth.

Vegas will need a better performance in the third period tonight to halt a two-game losing streak. Tuesday in New York, the Golden Knights allowed four unanswered goals to the Rangers in a 6-4 defeat.

Golden Knights, Bruins scoreless after first period

The Vegas Golden Knights and host Boston Bruins are scoreless after the first period tonight.

The Golden Knights twice had power-play opportunities, but couldn’t convert. And on both chances, Vegas had no concrete goal-scoring opportunities.

Vegas, despite not having a shot in the initial seven minutes, recorded eight first-period shots. Boston had five.

The game is the third in the Golden Knights’ road trip. They dropped the others, falling Monday to the Islanders and Tuesday at New York.

Pregame: Golden Knights try to stop losing skid in Boston

The Vegas Golden Knights tonight in Boston are trying to stop the expansion franchise’s first losing skid.

It was bound to happen, especially considering the injuries to the Golden Knights’ goalies. Maxime Lagace, the fourth Vegas goalie to start a game, is expected to face the Bruins tonight.

After winning eight of its initial nine games, Vegas earlier this week lost consecutive games — to the Islanders and Rangers — to start a road trip.

Lagace (0-2-0, with a 6.35 goals against average) was called into action midway through Monday’s game at the Islanders. He started Tuesday at the Rangers, surrendering five goals — New York scored four unanswered to rally for a win in the third period.

After giving up only 19 goals in the first nine games of the season, the Golden Knights have surrendered 12 goals in the last two.

This is the second meeting of the season against Boston. Vegas won 3-1 in mid-October.
