Former NFL football star O.J. Simpson laughs as he appears via video for his parole hearing at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Lovelock, Nev., on Thursday, July 20, 2017.

O.J. Simpson dressed up as a scary person for Halloween: Himself.

The former NFL star was spotted greeting trick-or-treaters while wearing his No. 32 Buffalo Bills jersey at his Las Vegas home. Photos published by TMZ Sports show "The Juice" autographing footballs, posing for selfies and smiling at kids in Halloween costumes.

According to TMZ, he didn't appear to be handing out candy Tuesday, but the Oct. 31 holiday and Simpson's criminal record prompted a number of jokes.

"He did cut through more NFL defenses than Freddy Krueger in that #32," the celebrity gossip site wrote. "Still, way scarier out of the jersey if ya ask us."

Simpson, 70, was released from a Nevada prison last month after nine years behind bars for a 2008 armed robbery and kidnapping case. He was acquitted of the 1994 killings of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman, but later found liable for their deaths in civil court.

Simpson won the Heisman Trophy in 1968 while playing for USC and then spent 11 seasons in the NFL as a running back, including eight years with the Bills from 1969 to 1977. He was the first NFL player to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a season (back when there were only 14 games in the regular season) and still holds the record for yards-per-game average in a single season, with 143.1 in 1973.

He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985. He also worked as a sports broadcaster and actor, appearing in "The Naked Gun" movies and "The Towering Inferno," before being accused of murder in the Trial of the Century.
