Two people escaped serious injuries after their small airplane made an emergency landing in a pond within a northwest valley golf course, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue and Metro Police.

Fire dispatchers received a report at 5:47 p.m. Thursday evening that an aircraft had lost power and was attempting to make an emergency landing at the Painted Desert Golf Club near Ann Road and U.S. 95, officials said.

A minute later, officials said, the pilot reported that the aircraft went down in the water. Both occupants exited the plane and got to shore.

The two people, who suffered minor injuries, were treated by the fire department and were being taken to University Medical Center, police said. Traffic in the area was not affected.

The aircraft is sitting at the bottom of the pond with only part of the tail protruding from the water.
