3 boys dead after being struck by car while on sidewalk in northeast LV

Three boys were killed and another was seriously injured when a car lost control and drove onto the sidewalk Saturday night in the east valley, according to Metro Police.

About 9 p.m. Joseph Eskandarian, 28, was driving an unregistered Suzuki Forenza eastbound on Desert Inn Road when he lost control near Ocean Crest Street, east of Nellis Boulevard, police said.

The car drove through a light pole, into four boys who were walking on the sidewalk, then into another light pole and finally stopped when it hit a tree, according to police.

Three of the boys, ages 12, 13 and 14, died at the scene and a fourth, 13, was taken to University Medical Center with serious but non life-threatening injuries, police said.

Witnesses saw Eskandarian running from the scene, and he was arrested six hours later and booked into Clark County Detention Center, according to police.
