Large scale paintings of country singer Garth Brooks are on display during First Friday festivities at the Arts District in downtown Las Vegas, July 1, 2016.

First Friday, the monthly arts festival downtown, will be presented as scheduled, organizers said on Tuesday.

“First Friday is extremely saddened by the recent events, and our hearts and thoughts go out to the victims and loved ones of this senseless violence in our community,” said a statement from First Friday organizers.

“The resounding message we're hearing from our community of creators and caring human beings is that we will not live in fear,” the statement continued. “We can't let the actions of one, or a few, overpower the desire and need for the many to come together.”

This Friday will be the 15th anniversary of First Friday. Each October’s theme is ‘One World Through Art,’ promoting peace, love, and unity.

First Friday is working with law enforcement and local authorities to increase security measures and help ensure public safety.
