Local and federal authorities found and destroyed 2,385 marijuana plants last month in Nye County, authorities said today.
The plants were transported in about a dozen helicopter flights to an undisclosed location and burned, according to the Nye County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sept. 29 raid — led by the U.S. Forest Service and the Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Agency, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and Nevada game wardens — occurred in the mountainous area of Railroad Valley, about 250 miles north of Las Vegas, officials said.
During the raid, authorities encountered two people who fled on foot, officials said.
