CARSON CITY — Customers of Southwest Gas will see a reduction in their monthly bills averaging from 4 percent to 8 percent.

The state Public Utilities Commission today approved a plan to lower overall rates by more than $23 million for customers in Clark County and Northern Nevada.

The company, the staff of the PUC and the Bureau of Consumer Protection agreed to the rate reduction. Documents show the price of natural gas has been mostly stable.

The utility has 631,000 customers in Southern Nevada and 95,000 in Northern Nevada.
