Thank you for supporting us’: Metro praises community via video

Metro Police released a video Wednesday afternoon as a gesture of appreciation to the community — from the Las Vegas-area to across America — that’s given its support to the agency in the days following the Oct. 1 mass killing on the Strip.

In the two-and-a-half-minute video, Metro personnel — such as crime scene investigators, homicide detectives, traffic cops, SWAT, K-9 and dispatch — say “thank you, Las Vegas.”

Scenes flash on the screen showing photos of handmade cards and snacks sent to the agency, and interactions between civilians and Metro staff.

The video also has images from the Golden Knights home debut Tuesday in which first responders were honored and of the vigil last week for fallen Metro Officer Charleston Hartfield, who was attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival concert when gunshots rang out and who died while trying to help other concert attendees.

“Every one of you who as a community supported us here at (Metro) and everything to do with public safety, thank you for supporting us in a time of need,” Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo says in the video.
