I agree with the editorial from the Tampa Bay Times (“Bump stocks should be banned,” Oct. 7, Las Vegas Sun) stating that a ban on bump stocks is the minimum that should be done after the Oct. 1 shooting in Las Vegas. But I fear that a successor to bump stocks is already waiting in the wings. Perhaps they’ll call it a trigger controller, making it sound like a safety device.
We should be pushing for legislation that makes it a felony to alter, in any way, a semiautomatic weapon to cause it to function as a fully automatic one. Short of that, we face separate battles for every weapon device designed to skirt existing laws.
