Drapes billow out of broken windows at the Mandalay Bay resort and casino Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, on the Las Vegas Strip following a deadly shooting at a music festival in Las Vegas. A gunman was found dead inside a hotel room.

MGM Resorts International said today it has no plans to rent the 32nd-floor Mandalay Bay suite from where a gunman shot and killed 58 people and wounded more than 500 others at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on Oct. 1.

“This was a terrible tragedy perpetrated by an evil man. We have no intention of renting that room,” the company said in a statement. It did not say what it planned to do with the suite.

MGM also has not talked about its plans for the festival grounds across the street where the music festival was held. MGM owns the 14.48 acre site via subsidiary MGM Resorts Festival Grounds LLC.

The gunman, Stephen Paddock, fired into the crowd of 22,000 concertgoers for some 11 minutes before he stopped and eventually took his own life, authorities said.
