Halloween fun, from doggy costumes to a ‘Harry Potter’ party

HallOVeen at Opportunity Village

When: Through Halloween night; Sunday through Thursday 5:30-9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 5:30-9:30 p.m.

What: The ongoing event offers games and rides with a spooky twist, plus trick-or-treat stations and themed mini-golf.

Where: Opportunity Village, 6300 W. Oakey Blvd.

Cost: $10-$12.

Sin City Halloween Parade, Block Party and Halloween Costume 5K

When: Saturday; 5K starts at 6 p.m.; parade is 8 p.m.-midnight.; block party is 9 p.m.-midnight.

What: This event series hosted by the city of Las Vegas aims to scare up a good time for the community.

Where: 5K starts at 610 Fremont St.; parade is at 600 Fremont St.; block party is at the corner of Sixth Street and Abbey Crossing.

Cost: Free, excluding 5K registration fee starting at $38.

Nevadaweeen

When: Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

What: This family event celebrates Halloween and Nevada’s birthday in one, with a haunted house, pumpkin painting, games, raffles, a costume contest and the annual soup cook-off.

Where: Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort State Historic Park, 500 E. Washington Ave.

Cost: $1 for ages 13 and older, free for kids 12 and younger.

Halloweentown and Candy Crawl at Downtown Container Park

When: Halloweentown is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday; Candy Crawl is 5-7 p.m. on Halloween.

What: Halloweentown is this month’s theme for the Downtown Kids Camp. There will games and snacks, as well as face painting and pumpkin decorating. The Candy Crawl offers a safe place for families to go trick-or-treating.

Where: Downtown Container Park, 707 Fremont St.

Cost: Halloweentown is $10; Candy Crawl is free.

A Very Harry Potter Halloween

When: Halloween, 6-10 p.m.

What: A group of Las Vegas locals elaborately decorated a two-car garage, based on the richly atmospheric "Harry Potter" series. Walk through, play games, get candy and be "sorted" into one of the houses of Hogwarts.

Where: Off the 215 Beltway and Eastern Avenue. The exact location will be revealed Halloween morning through the event's Facebook page.

Cost: Free.

Treat Street at Downtown Summerlin

When: Halloween, 5-7 p.m.

What: Families can dress up and trick-or-treat throughout the common area, where participating retail stores will pass out candy. A dog costume contest will take place at 4:30 p.m. at the Macy's Promenade (benefitting the Animal Foundation), and there will be a special screening of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” starting at 5:10 p.m. and repeating until 7:10.

Where: Downtown Summerlin, 1980 Festival Plaza Drive

Cost: Free, excluding dog costume contest entry fee of $20.

Hot 97.5 Monster Bash at the Galleria at Sunset mall

When: Halloween, 6-8 p.m.

What: The event will include trick-or-treating for families, and contests for costumes and pumpkin carving.

Where: Galleria mall, 1300 W. Sunset Road.

Cost: Free.

Future performed at Drai's for Super Bowl Sunday, and he's back for Halloween.

Drai’s Horror Story

When: Thursday through Sunday, 10:30 p.m.-4 a.m.

What: The five-day Halloween bash includes concert and live DJ sets from artists like Future, Lil Wayne, Rae Sremmurd, Trey Songz and DJ Crooked. The group (three or more) with the best coordinated costumes will win $10,000 to spilt.

Where: The Cromwell, 3595 Las Vegas Blvd.

Cost: Women start at $20, men start at $30. Attendees must be 21 or older.

A Very Vintage Vegas Halloween Party

When: Saturday, 8 p.m.-4 a.m.

What: A celebration of Las Vegas history, the patrons with the best costumes will be given drink tickets, and there will be a specialty cocktail on offer.

Where: Atomic Liquors, 917 Fremont St.

Cost: Free. Attendees must be 21 or older.

Zombie Cider and Beer Walk

When: Saturday, 5-8 p.m.

What: Zombies can drink unlimited ciders and brews, dance the night away and compete for best costume and best zombie walk impersonation.

Where: Downtown Container Park, 707 Fremont St.

Cost: $25 in advance, $30 at the gate. Attendees must be 21 or older.

Fetish and Fantasy Halloween Ball

When: Saturday, 10 p.m.-4 a.m.

What: One of the country’s most legendary — and sexy — annual Halloween parties celebrates its 22nd year at a new location.

Where: Red Rock Resort, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd.

Cost: $106 general, $275 VIP (locals discounts are available if you buy at any Station Casinos property). Attendees must be 21 or older.

Hofbräuhaus’ Spooktacular Halloween Bash

When: Sunday, 6:30-11 p.m.

What: Celebrate the end of Oktoberfest and Halloween with live entertainment, games, prizes and a costume contest.

Where: 4510 Paradise Road

Cost: Free. Attendees must be 21 or older.

FOR COSTUME LOVERS

Just Add Water Street '80s-Themed Skate Party

When: Friday, 6-10 p.m.

What: Take the family back to a time when spandex and big hair ruled the world, while enjoying local food trucks, musical hits from the '80s and a costume contest.

Where: Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water St.

Cost: Free, excluding skate rental of $5.
