Thunderstorms across the Las Vegas Valley tonight affected the high school football schedule, canceling several games and delaying many others.

As of 9 p.m., the Palo Verde-Legacy, Centennial-Sierra Vista, Cheyenne-Cimarron Memorial, Bonanza-Mar Vista, Valley-Durango, Desert Pines-Vegas and Mojave-Virgin Valley games were canceled due to weather.

An official with the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association said the canceled games likely won't be replayed except for Palo Verde-Legacy, which is a league game.

Also, Bonanza has rescheduled its matchup with Mar Vista (Calif.) for 1 p.m. Saturday.

Legacy's game was canceled after a lightning delay seven minutes into a scoreless game.

"We were on edge, the kids were excited, we ran back up there and they went, 'OK guys, go back in,'" said Legacy coach John Isola. "So it was disappointing to prepare for a team all week and then it doesn't happen, but at the end of the day, it's all about safety and I think everything happens for a reason."

Green Valley, led by signal caller A.J. Barilla, travels to Summerlin to face Faith Lutheran and quarterback Sagan Gronauer, who passed for 389 yards and two touchdowns in the season opener. Both teams are high-scoring and have proven players at the skilled positions.

Bishop Gorman returns to action by hosting Miami Central on ESPNU. The Gaels had their 55-game winning streak snapped last week at Mater Dei, but are still a top-10 ranked team nationally. And tonight they are looking to start another streak, or prevent another one from starting.

Bishop Gorman hasn't lost consecutive games since 2005 when it opened the season with defeats against Las Vegas High at Bothell of Washington.
