Letters to the Editor:

EPA must be fully funded

I was personally affected by Hurricane Irma. Hopefully my concerns, along with all the others who know the effects of global warming, will lead the powers that be to understand the importance of the job the Environmental Protection Agency has done to protect our environment, and in turn, our lives.

While the EPA may need some improvements, it is only with the proper funding that it can accomplish the goals and wishes of the American people.

Cuts to the agency’s budget will have long-lasting ripple effects to the labs and environmental consulting industry. Loss of those jobs affects the entire economy.

We cannot let our leaders cut the EPA’s budget. We must let our elected officials know that while they may not be concerned about today’s environment, it is their children and their grandchildren who will inherit the effects of our leaders’ greed.

We did the right thing in 1970. We need to impress our leaders with that same passion and concern today.
