Betting odds corroborate fans’ belief that the UFC 227 main event between T.J. Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt might be the most evenly matched title fight of the year.
For the most of the last three months since the bantamweight championship rematch was announced, the line hovered right around pick’em in local sports books. Only in the last few days have the numbers shifted slightly towards Dillashaw.
The champion Dillashaw goes into the grudge match in the headliner of tonight’s pay-per-view at Staples Center in Los Angeles as a minus-130 (risking $1.30 to win $1) favorite with the challenger Garbrandt coming back at plus-110 (risking $1 to win $1.10).
The underdog won in the first meeting between the two, though. Last November, Garbrandt came in as nearly a 2-to-1 favorite before Dillashaw knocked him out in the second round to steal the championship belt.
The Sun’s picks panel is as split as the general consensus, with two of the four prognosticators lining up on each side.
