6 shot at North Las Vegas party; all expected to survive

Six people attending a large house party in North Las Vegas Saturday night were struck by gunfire, according to city police.

The gunshot victims, some of whom are children, were hospitalized with survivable wounds, North Las Vegas Police Officer Aaron Patty said early Sunday.

Gunfire erupted about 10 p.m. in the 3400 block of Coran Lane, near Rancho Drive and Lake Mead Boulevard, Patty said. The shooting happened during a party attended by several hundred people, he added.

The shooter remained on the run early Sunday, Patty said, and a possible motive had not been identified, at least publicly. Information on the sequence of events was not immediately available.

It’s “extremely fortunate” the shooting didn’t leave any casualties, Patty said.
