Man shot, killed on Indian Colony in Elko

ELKO — Sheriff's deputies and federal agents are investigating a fatal shooting at an Indian Colony in northeast Nevada.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports a man was killed Wednesday morning in the shooting at the Upper Indian Colony in Elko.

Elko County Sheriff Jim Pitts says the killing appeared to have resulted from an altercation inside a home at the colony.

He says another man shot the victim twice in the leg and then a third time in the chest.

Pitts says the investigation is being led by the FBI and U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs. No other details have been released.
