Paul Myro and Trace Evans had touchdown runs for the Basic High football team tonight in a 13-12 victory at host Durango.
Basic didn’t score in the second half, but its defense held strong for the opening-night win.
“We are happy that we won,” Basic coach Jeff Cahill said. “We had some sloppy plays, turnovers and penalties. But when you have only had pads on for seven days, we knew that would happen.”
Durango received touchdown runs from T.K. Fotu and Kaden Renshaw, Cahill said.
With a win under their belts, the Wolves are off until they host Clark on Aug. 31.
“That’s the good thing about it. We have two weeks to fix (the mistakes),” Cahill said.
