Suspect arrested in fatal overnight stabbing

A street argument early today turned deadly when a man stabbed another man in the neck, according to Metro Police.

The suspect, Andrew Singleton, 42, was arrested by an officer patrolling the area, Metro Officer Jay Rivera said.

The stabbing happened about 1:30 a.m. in the 6400 block of Casada Way, near Charleston Boulevard and Torrey Pines Drive, Rivera said.

Singleton approached a group of people standing near an apartment complex and asked for cash and to use a phone, Lt. Ray Spencer said.

Singleton and the victim walked a short distance before an altercation broke out, Spencer said. That’s when Singleton allegedly pushed the victim and stabbed him in the neck, Rivera said.

Singleton fled on foot as the group scattered, Spencer said. An officer patrolling about a quarter mile away located Singleton and placed him in handcuffs, he said.

The victim died at University Medical Center.

Singleton was being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center on a count of murder, jail logs show.
