LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Wrong way on fuel standards

Take a look around the city. I mean literally. A lot of that haze is smoke from the wildfires raging in California. But much of it isn’t.

The American Lung Association rated Las Vegas as one of the nation’s most polluted cities. This pollution affects the lungs of my friends, loved ones, co-workers and my baby boy.

This would not be so bad if we were actively working on lowering the sources of pollution, but we have an administration actively working to lower fuel economy standards for automobiles. Not only would that be costly to consumers, but it would contribute to the heavy cloud of pollutants already surrounding us.

As a father and citizen, I say that maintaining our fuel economy standards is something we should not compromise on.
