Letter to the editor:

Trump is who he appears to be

The way to measure a man is to determine not only that he walks the walk but talks the talk. Let’s first examine President Donald Trump’s talk: He’s called African-American Rep. Maxine Waters a “low IQ person”; called African-Americans LeBron James and Don Lemon dumb; called African-American Omarosa Manigault Newman a lowlife and a dog; referred to Mexican immigrants as rapists, and called for a “total and complete” Muslim ban.

So what about Trump’s walk? The first month after being sworn into office, he issued three executive orders that, as Casey Harden wrote in Time magazine in 2017, “intensify the criminalization of communities of color.”

Trump is a racist, the antithesis of former President Barack Obama. Racism is fear-mongering used to attempt to control and suppress minorities — a practice which should be thoroughly condemned.
