East valley shooting leaves 2 men dead, 1 hospitalized

Two men were killed and another was wounded in a shooting at an east valley neighborhood Tuesday night, according to Metro Police.

Gunfire erupted about 8:20 p.m. in the 3400 block of Center Drive, near Charleston Boulevard and Pecos Road, Lt. David Gordon said.

Two victims died at the scene and a third was undergoing treatment at a hospital, Gordon said.

Neighbors called 911 when they went outside after hearing gunshots and saw three men lying on the ground, said Metro Capt. Robert Plummer via online briefing.

A motive for the shooting hadn’t been established, Plummer said, only describing the victims as Hispanic men.

Speaking about the violent act, Plummer said Metro is asking the public for “less violence.”

“We’ve had a very violent past week. This is just another example of gun violence coming into play and we’re not sure the reason behind it, but there are too many guns on the street and people resorting to gun violence, and it’s just another tragedy where we lost another two citizens of our city,” Plummer said.
