Police release sketch of man who tried to snatch 2 young girls

METRO POLICE

Metro Police on Tuesday released a sketch of a man they say tried to snatch two little girls in east valley neighborhoods a week ago.

That suspect, described as a white or Hispanic medium-build man — roughly 18 to 20 years old — is being sought, said police, who last week released a short video that purportedly shows the man’s four-door car with silver trim around its windows.

He has a tattoo on the right side of his neck, and he wore a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray sweat pants, and gray Nike sneakers.

About 6:40 p.m. Feb. 6, the man tried to pull a 6-year-old girl into a car but released her when neighbors confronted him in the 2700 block of Marlin Avenue, near Eastern Avenue and U.S. 95, police said.

Less than 10 minutes later, he tried again, this time with a 7-year-old girl who was in a playground in the 3700 block of East Bonanza Road, police said, but again he was stopped, this time by a family member of the child.
