Metro Police on Wednesday released a video that purportedly shows a confrontation between two men inside an east valley market, which escalated into a fatal shooting that left one of them dead.

Investigators have yet to identify the suspected shooter or a woman who’d accompanied him to the strip mall — in the 3900 block of East Owens, near Pecos Road — on Feb. 3, and they’re asking for the public’s assistance, police said.

In a news release that accompanied the video, Metro described the man and the woman as “people of interest.”

Officers responded to the shooting just before 2 p.m. and found David Parsons, 41, lying on the ground outside with a fatal gunshot wound to his chest, police said.

Police at the time said that the gunman and a companion had arrived at the shopping center in a newer-model Dodge Charger with dark-tinted windows and an altercation had broken out between Parsons and the shooter.

The argument escalated into a fist fight inside the store and then gunfire when the shooter was trying to leave, police said.

The footage shows the suspected gunman being held back by the woman as he appears to be screaming inside the store. An outdoor camera shows them struggling to leave the parking lot before the man speeds away.

The gunman was described as a tall black man who wore his hair in short braids, which were covered by a black do-rag. He also wore a dark-colored sweater, a gold necklace, dark jeans and black shoes.

His passenger was described as a heavier-set black woman, police said. She wore a gray tank top and blue jeans.
