Man injured in two-car crash dies at hospital

A man critically injured in a two-car crash last week in the northwest valley has died at University Medical Center, according to Metro police.

Police said the Clark County Coroner’s Office notified them Wednesday of the death of Nicholas Damato, 50, of Las Vegas.

Damato was driving west on Charleston Boulevard about 10:50 a.m. Feb. 15 when he attempted to make a left turn onto Apple Drive and crossed into the path of a car headed the opposite direction, police said. The cars collided at the intersection, police said.

Damato was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The driver of the other car, a 19-year-old Las Vegas man, suffered minor injuries, police said.

Impairment did not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation, police said.
