Person treated for minor burn in townhouse fire

A person was treated for a minor burn and a cat was found dead in separate fires Tuesday night and early today, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

The first fire was reported about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at a two-story townhouse in the 600 block of Greenbriar Townhouse Way. Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the home but had the blaze largely out within about 15 minutes, officials said.

One occupant was treated for a minor burn but was not taken to the hospital, officials said. The cause of the fire was under investigation.

A damage estimate was not available.

The other fire was reported just before 1 a.m. today in the 5000 block of Cartaro Drive, where firefighters discovered flames coming from the garage and side of a two-story house, officials said. The fire spread into the attic, but crews knocked the blaze down within about a half hour, officials said.

Firefighters got everyone out of the house safely, but during a search of the structure, they found a cat that had died, officials said.

Six adults were displaced by the fire, which was under investigation, officials said. A damage estimate was not available.
