Firefighter injured battling blaze at strip mall

A firefighter was taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries suffered while battling a blaze that broke out Monday night at a strip mall, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

Multiple people reported the fire about 10:50 p.m. in the 3400 block of Jones Boulevard, near Desert Inn Road. Heavy smoke and flames were discovered in a business suite, officials said.

Firefighters cut holes in the roof to attack the fire and stop it from spreading, officials said. A total of 67 firefighters responded to the two-alarm blaze, officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and a damage estimate has not been determined, officials said.
