1 killed in possible gang-related shooting in east valley

A person was killed in a possible gang-related shooting in a far east valley park Thursday night, according to Metro Police.

The shooting was reported about 7:30 p.m. at the park on 1970 Tree Line Drive, near Sahara Avenue, Lt. Peter Kisfalvi said.

Some sort of altercation preceded gunfire, Kisfalvi said. The victim died on the scene.

Further details were not immediately available.

The shooting occurred about half a mile from a gang-related melee at the Hollywood Recreation Center in 2016 in which five people were shot or stabbed, one being a teenager who was fatally shot.

That April 23, 2016, incident has led to several other shootings in Las Vegas and North Las Vegas, officials have said.
