Woman’s slaying prompts search for the father of her children

A woman was found slain in a southeast valley neighborhood this morning and detectives are searching for the possible suspect, the father of her children, according to Metro Police.

Officers responded at 8:54 a.m. the 4600 block of Dealers Choice Way, near Boulder Highway, south of Harmon Avenue, and found the woman’s body, said Lt. Ray Spencer in an online briefing. She suffered a gunshot wound.

Spencer said two of her children — both under the age of 10 — found their mother's body in a bedroom. One of the children called 911.

“We have not located the suspect who we believe is going to be the father of the children who were at the residence,” Spencer said. The man was identified and police were “actively looking” for him, he added.

It wasn’t clear if the suspect and victim were married, Spencer said.

Further details were not immediately available this afternoon.
