Law enforcement cracks down on Reno street racers

RENO — A joint operation between a number of Washoe County law enforcement agencies against street racers resulted in 11 arrests, 64 citations and one towed vehicle.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports two of the arrests Friday were for felony eluding after two suspects attempted to flee in their vehicles after being caught racing in Reno. One of the vehicles crashed in the pursuit, and both suspects were eventually apprehended.

The remainder of the arrests included four for DUI, warrants and drug possession.

A news release sent out by the Reno Police Department says local law enforcement has been making a concerted effort to combat street racing in the area.

Agencies involved in the joint operation included the Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department, The Nevada Office of Public Safety, Washoe County Sheriff's Office and the Nevada Highway Patrol.
