Police in Las Vegas say a man suspected of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend is a state correctional officer.
Police Lt. Ray Spencer on Sunday said 41-year-old Christopher Gerard Caggiano remains at large.
Nevada Department of Corrections spokeswoman Brooke Santina says Caggiano most recently assigned to the High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs, about 40 miles (64 kilometers) northwest of Las Vegas.
Police say the couple's two young children discovered the woman's body Saturday. They say a 9-year-old girl told an emergency dispatcher her mom was dead in a bedroom at their father's home.
Officers found the woman dead with at least one gunshot wound. Police have not publicly identified her.
Authorities say there had been no previous calls to that home for domestic disturbances.
Spencer says the children are with their relatives.
