Metro Police have arrested a man suspected in the slaying of a homeless woman whose body was found in a Laughlin desert area earlier this year.

Aaron Campbell, 46, was spotted at the Laughlin casino strip on Tuesday and taken into custody on a murder warrant, police said today.

About 4:40 a.m. on May 7, Metro officers responded to a suspicious death of woman who was found in a desert trail near the Colorado River, police said. The body was examined by the Clark County Coroner’s Office, which later determined she’d died of blunt force trauma, police said.

Homicide detectives conducted an investigation and identified Campbell as a suspect, police said. It wasn’t immediately clear how they reached that conclusion.

Laughlin court records show that Campbell’s criminal complaint was filed on July 10, and a warrant issued two days later. He will appear in court Thursday morning.
