Las Vegas to host NHL rookie showcase featuring Golden Knights

Hockey fans in Las Vegas won’t have to wait for the preseason to scratch their hockey itch after the summer offseason.

2018 Vegas Rookie Faceoff

Saturday, Sept. 8

Game 1 — Arizona vs. San Jose, 3 p.m.

Game 2 — Los Angeles vs. Anaheim, 5 p.m.

Game 3 — Colorado vs. Vegas, 7 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 9

Game 1 — Los Angeles vs. Arizona, 3 p.m.

Game 2 — Colorado vs. Anaheim, 5 p.m.

Game 3 — Vegas vs. San Jose, 7 p.m.

Monday, Sept. 10

Practice day, no games.

Tuesday, Sept. 11

Game 1 — Anaheim vs. Arizona, 11 a.m.

Game 2 — San Jose vs. Colorado, 11:30 a.m.

Game 3 — Los Angeles vs. Vegas, 2:30 p.m.

Five teams will be joining the Golden Knights from Sept. 8-11 for exhibition games featuring the rookies of each team. Rookies from the Anaheim Ducks, Arizona Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks will travel to Las Vegas for the showcase.

Top prospects Cody Glass, Nick Suzuki, Erik Brannstrom, Nicolas Hague and others will be on display for the Golden Knights, and other teams will be evaluating their best young players as well.

The four-day 2018 Vegas Rookie Faceoff will feature three games on Saturday, Sept. 8, three games on Sunday, Sept. 9, and three games on Tuesday, Sept. 11, all at City National Arena in Downtown Summerlin.
