Motorcyclist, 34, killed in crash with pickup truck

A motorcyclist was killed Monday night in the east valley when he slammed into the back of a pickup truck stopped at a stop sign, according to Metro Police.

The crash happened about 9:20 p.m. on Nellis Boulevard, north of Sun Valley Drive, police said. The motorcyclist was headed south on Nellis at “an excessive rate of speed” when he failed to slow down and rear-ended the truck, police said.

The rider, a 34-year-old Las Vegas man, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His name was not released pending notification of his family.

The driver of the pickup, a 34-year-old Las Vegas man, and two girls, ages 9 and 7, were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
