Day after triple shooting, another shot at same NLV apartment

Updated Saturday, June 9, 2018 | 1:03 p.m.

A second person has been killed in a North Las Vegas fourplex where police about 24 hours earlier had investigated a triple shooting. City police say the two incidents are related.

Shortly after 5 a.m. Friday, two men and a 13-year-old boy were shot at an apartment in the complex in the 2500 block of Ellis Street, northwest of Carey Avenue and Belmont Street, police said.. A 33-year-old died at the scene and the boy and a 20-year-old were hospitalized with survivable wounds.

Then, officers at about 7 a.m. today again responded to the complex to find another man who was shot.

The shootings are "not random acts of violence," North Las Vegas Police Officer Aaron Patty said.

Gunfire had erupted in a back unit Friday and although a motive for it had been determined, investigators believe the suspect and the victims knew each other, police said.

About 9 p.m. Friday, police had finished processing the scene and had released the apartment to the remaining residents, Patty said. Ten hours later, they were there again.
