I agree with Brian Greenspun’s June 3 column “We must restore checks and balances,” but not for the same reasons.
The greatest risk to our democratic republic is the unwritten fourth branch of government not discussed in civics classes and/or cited by Greenspun.
It’s the massive, out-of-control federal bureaucracy, which renders the other three branches useless and ineffective.
