An official says 50 county, state and federal firefighters and several aircraft are attacking a wildfire near a popular hiking trail at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area outside Las Vegas.

Bureau of Land Management spokeswoman Kirsten Cannon said today the fire was about 10 acres when it was reported burning grass and shrubs a little after 6 a.m. in the Pine Creek area.

As of late this morning, the fire was about 15 percent contained, with full containment estimated Saturday eventing, officials said.

No structures were being threatened and no injuries were reported, officials said.

A cause wasn't immediately determined.

The one-way 13-Mile Scenic Drive through the area remains open, but the Pine Creek parking area and trail are closed.

Red Rock conservation area is about 25 miles west of the Las Vegas Strip.

Parts of it were scarred by lightning-caused wildfires in 2005 and 2006, and by another fire in July 2011.
