A former casino employee said nothing in court, and his lawyer offered little comment following his first appearance before a Las Vegas judge on murder and other charges in a company picnic shooting that killed a co-worker and wounded another.
Outside court, defense attorney Joseph Abood characterized 42-year-old Anthony Wrobel on Wednesday as "stunned' following his extradition from Oldham County, Texas, to Las Vegas to face charges.
No bail was set, and the judge set a July 11 preliminary hearing of evidence.
Wrobel is accused of killing Venetian executive Mia Banks at the April 15 picnic and wounding co-worker Hector Rodriguez in front of shocked colleagues who told police they recognized Wrobel as the gunman.
He was arrested four days later at an Interstate 40 rest stop in Texas, not far from the New Mexico state line.
