Tour bus plows into east Las Vegas bus stop, killing woman

A person sitting on an east valley bus stop bench suffered fatal injuries Thursday night when a tour bus, for unknown reasons, drove up a sidewalk and into the structure, according to Metro Police.

The crash was reported shortly after 8 p.m. at Desert Inn Road and Eastern Avenue, according to dispatch logs. The unknown-age female victim died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, said a police spokesman via online briefing.

The driver of the unmarked tour bus, which was originally heading to a nearby bus yard, continued to a pharmacy where he stopped and was fully cooperating with investigators, police said.

No other people were at the bus stop and the driver, who was only described as being in his 60s, was the only occupant in the bus, police said. He did not appear to be impaired, added the police spokesman.

The investigation continued late Thursday and further details were not immediately available.
