A motorist who police say plowed his vehicle into another car last week, killing the driver, has been arrested by Nevada Highway Patrol.

Eric Brzoza, 32, was booked on a felony count of reckless driving resulting in death, and one count each of misdemeanor driving on a suspended license and failure to wear a seat belt, officials said today. Police say he hit the car when it slowed during traffic congestion.

The crash occurred about 4 p.m. April 27 on the southbound lanes of U.S. 95 at Ann Road, officials said. The victim died at the scene.

The woman was in a 1993 Toyota Camry when she slowed down amid clogged traffic, officials said. Brzoza was driving recklessly and didn’t slow down, smashing his 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer into the back of the car, officials said.

“Let this serve as a reminder to always buckle up,” said officials about Brzoza, who was hospitalized after hitting his head against the windshield because he wasn’t wearing a seat belt. “He miraculously escaped serious (injuries) or death.”
