Best Bets: John Fogerty, Adam Sandler, Country in the Park and more for your Las Vegas weekend

John Fogerty

John Fogerty closes out his current run at Encore Theater this weekend.

The Vegas Golden Knights aren’t just the best hockey team ever, they’re also the most kind and generous. Think how nice it was for the guys to wait until midweek to take on their next Stanley Cup Playoffs opponent, freeing up T-Mobile Arena for two weekend concerts from U2. That’s called Vegas hospitality. If you’re not going to T-Mobile Friday or Saturday night, consider these other musical extravaganzas, or maybe a night of laughs with a comedy icon.

EARTH, WIND AND FIRE The groove has been deep for the first half of EWF’s six-show run at the Venetian Theatre. The legendary funk, soul and R&B band and its soaring vocals and horn section wrap it up Friday and Saturday night and you’ll be sorry if you miss it. May 11-12, info at venetian.com.

JOHN FOGERTY Speaking of hockey and hospitality, this Rock and Roll Hall of Famer wore a Golden Knights jersey during last weekend’s shows at Encore Theater. If Fogerty loves Vegas this much, it’s safe to say these two concerts won’t be his last in this town — but it’s tough to beat a rock legend in this intimate venue. ADAM SANDLER The class clown has returned. Sandler’s goofy songs and dirty jokes make for a wildly entertaining show at the Chelsea, where he’s already performed a handful of times this year. Could Saturday’s visit be the last of his Cosmopolitan residency gigs? May 12, info at cosmopolitanlasvegas.com.

COUNTRY IN THE PARK The 12th annual outdoor concert at Exploration Park in the Mountain’s Edge master-planned community features platinum-certified singer and songwriter Jerrod Niemann, “American Idol” winner Trent Harmon, rising star Ben Rue and locals Thrillbilly Deluxe. The event also includes a beer garden, food vendors and more, and picnic baskets, chairs and blankets and leashed pets are welcome. May 12, info at mountainsedge.com.

X AMBASSADORS Sometimes inspirational, sometimes introspective, rock trio X Ambassadors launched its Joyful Tour earlier this year and played a triumphant gig at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado earlier this month. The show comes to the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay Sunday night. May 13, info at houseofblues.com.
