Well wishes for Reid

The announcement Monday that Harry Reid had undergone surgery for pancreatic cancer triggered a outpouring of well wishes from local, state and national leaders.

Here is a sampling of those messages, collected from Twitter and email. As for Reid’s medical situation, his family said the former Senate majority leader would undergo chemotherapy and that the “prognosis for his recovery is good.”

Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., in a statement: “Sen. Reid is no stranger to a fight. He beat his opponents in the boxing ring, took on the mob in Nevada, and moved bills in the Senate that no one believed could be done. He’ll beat cancer too. I wish him a speedy and successful recovery.”

Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., on Twitter: Senator Reid is a fighter. I wish him well and pray for his recovery.

Former House Speaker John Boehner, on Twitter: You’re a fighter, Harry. You can whip this. Prayers for @SenatorReid and his family and team.
