CARSON CITY — The Douglas County sheriff's office says deputies fatally shot a 77-year-old man after he threatened to kill officers responding to a domestic dispute and struck one of them with his car while attempting to flee the scene south of Carson City over the weekend.

The sheriff's office identified the victim Monday as Jimmy Alan Moss of Yerington. He was pronounced dead at the scene Saturday night.

The deputy who was hit by the car was treated for multiple injuries but has been released from a local hospital.

The sheriff's office says Moss appeared to be intoxicated and made threats to "kill the police" during the dispute at a residence on Shadow Lane near Indian Hills north of Minden.

He was shot and killed as he fled in his vehicle.

One sergeant and three deputies have been placed on paid administrative leave while the Carson City sheriff and Nevada Division of Investigation conduct an investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
