Police: 15-year-old girl struck in crosswalk by hit-and-run driver

Authorities say a teen was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run as she crossed a street in a marked Las Vegas crosswalk.

Metro Police say the unidentified 15-year-old girl was walking in the crosswalk on Bonanza Road at Honolulu Street about 9:40 p.m. Sunday when she was hit by a 2006 Chrysler 300.

Police say the driver of the Chrysler failed to stop after hitting the girl and left the scene. Officers say the driver also failed to notify police.

Officers later located the driver, Hannah Burks, 18, of Las Vegas, using the home address listed on the Chrysler's registration. Burks was arrested on a hit-and-run count, police said. There were no signs of impairment from alcohol or drugs, police said.

The pedestrian was transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries, police said.
