Police find shooting victim in crashed SUV near West Tropicana

A man who was shot in a parking lot and later died crashed an SUV into a light pole west of the Strip as he tried to flee, according to Metro Police.

Officers were dispatched about 12:30 a.m. today to investigate reports that the SUV hit a pole in the 5000 block of Rogers Street, near Tropicana Avenue and Arville Street, police said. They found a man in the driver’s seat with apparent gunshot wounds, police said.

The man was taken to University Medical Center, where he later died. The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release his name.

Detectives determined the shooting took place in a nearby parking lot. No suspects or motive has been identified, police said.
