Letter to the editor:

Time to act on climate change

After the election last week, we now know that Congress will have a majority of Democrats in the House of Representatives. This is good news for those of us who are furious at the current administration’s failure to address climate change.

Democrats as a group tend to believe in climate change and how human activity — primarily the burning of fossil fuels — is exacerbating it. So, there is renewed hope for federal action to mitigate it.

Last month, a report from the International Governmental Panel on Climate Change warned that we have a decade at best to take action before it is too late. Members of the House, you will be hearing from me and others who are deeply concerned about climate change. We will demand action because, after all, we all inhabit the same Earth and there is no Planet B.
