A suspect has been arrested in the Nov. 13 fatal shooting of a boy outside a North Las Vegas strip mall, authorities said.

The FBI and North Las Vegas Police on Tuesday tracked down Al’Dijon Williams, 18, near Tropicana Avenue and Maryland Parkway and took him into custody, officials said.

He was booked at the Las Vegas City Jail on a count of murder, officials said.

It wasn’t clear how authorities linked him to the slaying of 16-year-old LaMadre Harris, whom police said was shot about 2 p.m. Nov. 13 by a man who approached him outside a mall near West Centennial Parkway and Goldfield Street.

By the time officers arrived, the suspect had fled, police said. Harris was taken to University Medical Center, where he later died.

Police attributed the arrest to around-the-clock investigations after a recent rash of shootings involving young victims.

“Speaking as a mother, police officer and public servant, I agree with the community that this sort of violence is unacceptable,” Police Chief Pamela Ojeda said in a news release.
