The Foothill High basketball team will have a slightly different look this season.

Paul DeSantis replaced Kevin Soares as the Falcons’ coach, but stresses not much will change. Soares, who many considered one of the area’s best, stepped down in the spring after nearly 20 seasons.

DeSantis, though, is no stranger to the program. He was a longtime assistant coach and envisions continuing the Falcons’ dominance in the Southeast League, where they are the defending division champions.

Foothill is led by Jace Roquemore, who averaged by 14 points per game last season, and Dylan Hushaw, who averaged 13 points per game. And in the season opener on Tuesday, Foothill overcame a double-digit fourth quarter deficit to down Canyon Springs in a battle of top-10 teams.
