Luke Bennett completed 8 of 15 passes for 100 yards and three touchdowns today for the Moapa Valley football team in a 30-7 victory against host Boulder City.

The Pirates took a 2-0 lead on opening kickoff when the Boulder City kick returner fumbled on a failed reverse attempt and the ball went out of the back of endzone.

Bennett also rushed for a touchdown for Moapa Valley, which won its seventh straight game.

Moapa Valley, though, led just 9-7 at halftime and punted the ball seven times. Coach Brent Lewis couldn’t recall a game in his nearly two decades with the Pirates where they’ve punted as much.

In the second half, “we came out like a totally different team,” Lewis said.

Derek Reese, Josh Cox and Chase Hoy had receiving touchdowns.
