The incident was reported about 10 p.m. on Lake Mead Boulevard, east of Lincoln Road, in the northeast valley, police said. A car headed west on Lake Mead swerved to avoid two people crossing the street, missing one of them and hitting the other, police said.

The woman who was hit was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

The driver, a 56-year-old North Las Vegas woman, remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment, police said. Neither she nor two passengers were injured, police said.
